What is this snare?

Loading...

 I'm really curious as to make and vintage of this snare. Ebay item #261659247457 (not my listing). I don't recognize the tensioning hardware, but I doubt it's a Ludwig as the seller speculates. Internal snares with an open bottom. Bet it would sound great with brushes. Any ideas?

I have an old single headed snare with the underside wires. There is no name on it. I assumed it is an old Wurlitzer from one of the old circus band wagons that play all the different instruments.

Thanks all for the info and that vid. I'm thinking this might pair up nicely with the Wurlitzer bass drum I recently restored. I just love unusual pieces like this for the different tonal quality they bring to the arsenal. "Banjo" drum... makes perfect sense.
