Thanks

The older 60's catalog had them as No. 404

Later,...... LM 404

"L" must stand for Ludwig.

I guess "M" stands for model.

Wow, what a code breaker I amDOH

Thanks again sir.

Ok Mr. "code breaker"! Your next assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to break the code of the numbers on the Ludwig paper tags in the early 70's!!

The secretary should disavow my involvement right now.

This drum dude will self destruct in 15 seconds.

The "paper tags" drove me over the edge.

Thanks Lalo Schifrin.

I think the C suffix is for classic. Meaning the recent Black Galaxy Acrolites were/are LM404. The classic designation is for the blue olive badge issues that resemble the vintage ones(classic).

That's what the Ludwig site suggests:

http://www.ludwig-drums.com/usasnares_acrolite.php

You can tab to the other 5" one which is the LM404LTD which seems to have brushed lugs.

Clearly I'm out of touch. Does the Blackrolite (Black Galaxy Acrolite) remain in production? I don't see it on the site.

I checked on that within the last year Steve. I am told that it is still available. Not sure if that means it can be ordered new or if some retailers still have some new stock. I was just at Ludwig last month and could have easily verified this. Shoulda,Coulda,Woulda!
