Help2Hello Everyone,
From Norway...
I have just joined the forum,In the hope you guys might be able to help me,with regards to TIBALES and a very good teacher|?
I have had a life~long interest in Percussion and started at an early age on the Conga`s,self taught as far as it went?:o
I have made a few abortive attempts to get in to Latin percussion for real but illness as stopped me !!I am now going to give it one last almighty push and see if i can finally, achieve the dream of playing the timbales and associated instruments.
Time is very precious and I have wasted a lot of years,so I will be hitting the road running, well sort of.Firstly I have decided to buy the best(Why) because I do not have any other interests and I am isolated,so may as well do this thing right!
I have being away from the world of percussion (reading about it) for quite some time, and as things never stand still,And the Percussion world will have moved on also.I was sad not to find the web page of Matt Smith & Calixto Rivera who I believe were two of the best builders of Latin drums and accessories.I recall with sadness when Tom Alexander"Volcano"passed away, and folk get older and no one lives forever but I hope Matt & Calixto are still with us??If anyone as information I would be obliged.
My final comments relate to Timbales lessons (& Associated Instruments?)I am English and live in Norway (12 years) I would literally travel anywhere to get that supercharged start in Timbales playing!I recall watching this superb guy playing Timbales along with a varied assortment of latin instruments forming what looked like a superb kit,and this is what I am looking for...well at the very least Timbales,Cow bells, blocks,Bass drum??Cymbals e.t.c.but that is secondary to First rate lessons.
If anyone reading this can put me in touch with someone who can help weather in Europe or further afield i would be very grateful
Many thanks
