What Do Y'all Think?

Loading...

I'm interested in buying this shell for $135 and I don't believe the buyer will go any lower. I would remove the cortex wrap, patch the tom mount and re-wrap the shell. I would also need to buy hoops and hardware.

With all that in mind, do you think $135 is a fair starting price for this project? I've not been monitoring the classifieds as diligently as I once did and I'm a little unsure of the price. Shipping is free.

The interior of the shell and the bearing edges seem to be in good enough shape, at least as good as any drum that's not been in a case for the past forty years.

That price seems excessive for a shell with no hardware or hoops, and in need of a labor-intensive removal of Cortex wrap.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thanks for the input, Leedy. I've not seen a lot of orphan 3-ply 24x14s. Does that make the price look any better in your mind?

Shipping is free, if that changes anything.

Edited the original post to include that.

I think that is a retail price. Shipping is a BIG deal for a 24" drum, probably 1/2 again more than a 22".I could see it costing $50 to ship. And its a rering 3-ply. The cortex removal may not be fun...

My thought is that $135, with FREE shipping, is very fair! Also true that I have not seen many 14x24 shell offerings. If this is what you want, and are good with the expense of obtaining all the parts, then go for it!

Check the price on a new shell of that size! I'm sure it would be sticker shock.

I`ve seen this crack before and know what causes it a lot of times. I would insist on an interior pic under it.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
