What '60's LUDWIG Custom Color is this? Last viewed: 54 minutes ago

Red coat is paint with gold specks in it - clearly paint as there are a few chips confirming so. Hoops have same paint job. & it does not appear to be an aftermarket do it yourself job (if you're wondering).

Thanks! Chris

Hobbs - where the paint is flaking, is there bare wood underneath? I've never seen that color paint on a Ludwig kit before, it -has to be- after market, maybe a professional auto painter did it?????

Mystery drum for sure.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Hey John,

You can see 1 to the left of the consolette, another at 12 0'clock. One reason I do not think this is a do-it-yourself job is the interior white paint is over the sparkly red. Also, the hoop is exactly the same with the fancy gold inlay.

Hmm ...

Hey V!

Grommets are perfect. Badges all around 293000 - late '65-'66. Nickel hardware, which would indicate the paint job was part of the special order. Only downside is that the kit's a combo so without the matching floor tom.

I've seen this color before usually on Pioneer snares. It's not a one of a kind color but not one you see too often. It's a brownish shade with little flecks of gold mixed in. They called it "Bronze Mist Lacquer" it was shown in the catalog at least once.
