WFL snare help

Hello everybody,

thanks for taking the time to read my post!

I have recently acquired a WFL pre-Jazz Festival snare (Swingster/Barrett Deems?).

The seller said it has been re-wrapped but on closer inspection, the snare strainer reads "Ludwig"....

Can any experts out there take a look at the attached pictures and tell me if anything else is awry with this drum? I can post more pictures with the heads off if that's useful. I assume some of the hardware is supposed to be NOB, is it supposed to be this matt/dull colour?

Nice looking drum. Sure that it sounds just as good. The hardware looks correct. The main portion of the strainer is a WFL era P83. It looks like it just has a Ludwig 60's script logo bottom part. That can be replaced if you decide to do so. If it's a rewrap, the wrap will not be tucked into the shell at the scarf joint. Nickel will polish to a nice lustre in most cases. Has the correct interior lugs screws I see. Also has the period correct muffler from what I can tell. They were optional during this era. Looks like your tension rods are chrome instead of nickel. The badge is a 55-57. Hope this helps some.

I bought it as a recording snare but just wanted to check that nothing else was up with it. Are you saying that the T-rods aren't original then?

Not sure but it looks like the newer WMP wrap, with the horizontal pattern. Even less sure, but the hoops look a little odd, but maybe that's how they were on early shells. What do you guys think? Am I way off?.........marko
