Thanks to all for the kind words and support!
So much to like about this drumset. Totally worth the drive...........marko
Thanks much Marko! I haven't had the time to pull a head off to see inner markings. They remind me of an old Radio King set with those wide maple top and bottom support hoops. Just returned from another long road trip and man do I need some down time from the car. Thanks for the support. I appreciate it!
Had to make the time after posting that I haven't had the time yet to see inner markings-priorities shifted. Opened up the snare and 13" tom to find Sept.23 1958 in both. Now wondering if the transition badge bass has a different later but close date as they were all bought together at the same time. So who has this birthday set date and who will be the next owner? 2400 unrestored for the 4drums and hardware. Pick up free from NJ 08527. Email fltgrycleav at yahoo dot com. Shipping extra only in the US. Enjoy the pics.
no date in the 16 flr just the mark "16" -clean set.
Can't keep them all Gramps! Good luck with the sale.
Mike
Thanks Mike! So true about keeping all. I am prone to Rogers but this one has got me a bit. I won't put it for sale any where else. Wanted to share the score with the community and part of me hopes it doesn't sell any time soon. Not looking to push them out the door too quick. Tomorrow I'll get to opening up the bass to look for a date stamp or other markings. I kinda like this set even though it's not Rogers. Not that common for me. It doesn't fit the theme of the room. A quote from Goodfellas comes to mind that it(Manichevitz) would look funny on my table...or rather in the drum room of a Rogers hoard. Getting tougher to find the original stuff too. Not on the hunt like my younger days.
Gary really cool Ludwigs! Very close to my birthday (13th) so I was 10 day old when those were built. Mannys was a cool place. glad I had the chance to go there a few times way back when in the 70's.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
