WFL School Concert - 5 x 14 Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hi all, I've just added this rare snare to my collection. This snare appears in the 1941 WFL catalog as "School Concert" Model, but I'm not sure if this snare is early 40's or early 50's.

I've wanted one with Zephyr lugs for a while, so here it is! This is how I like to find them - Well used!

I haven't seen too many in these configurations.

Could we call this one an early Jazz Festival / Barret Deems Model?

These are the seller's photos.

Any info on this drum would be appreciated!

Thanks for looking!

I've just noticed that the School Concert model is a 6 lugger. The one pictured is an 8 lugger so it's not a School Concert.

WFL 8-lugger is the same as a J-Fest, different lugs, same tuning configuration. Doesn't matter much the exact model, it's going to be a killer little snare. I love single-flange hoops and clips on a drum, screams 'vintage.' That's going to be a 3-ply mahogany shell with maple re-rings, it'll make for a fat, warm sounding drum!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Cheers John, I was thinking Jazz Festival too. I still don't know if it's a 5" or 5.5", but it looks the biz. I love these WFL drums! Particularly the lacquered mahogany shells or duco shells with lots of scuffs and scratches. Bags of character! I can't wait for this to arrive!

Just arrived today. Here's a few photos that I took indoors. The lighting is very poor, but it's a nice looking drum. It sounds good too.
