WFL Kick - Is it worth it?

Loading...

Hey Guys; This has been in the classifieds for about a week now. Originally asking $150, just brought it down to $100. I've offered him $50, thinking it would be a fun, 'get my feet wet' restoration project, but he claims he's firm at $100. Listed as a 50s, WFL 20" kick, (did they even make 20" kicks?) painted shell, with about eight holes, with non original spurs, and possibly not original hoops. Any opinions? Thanks.

That's what I was thinking. The hardware doesn't look too bad from the pics, but I'm also a 20" fan, if the shell's not too bad. Question is whether it'd be worth the cost of a proper re-wrap... though if I could track down a couple of cheap toms in rough shape...

It's hardly ever worth the cost of a re-wrap...

wrap cost $$$, then, you need someone to apply it properly ($$),then, you de-valued it by re-wrapping,and most people won't touch a re-wrap!

Lose/lose situation!

Considered that also. When is a re-wrap realistic? Seems the best case scenario is to find original shells with original wrap and no extra holes, ($$$). What about all those poor vintage shells that have been violated? What is to become of them? Players I guess, but what about the true virgins? Just dust and polish?

that would make a great project drum. looks like it has the hole on top for the dissappearing cymbal mount. those are really neat i think.
