Wanted: 15" snare wire for old marching drum. Weird mechanism- help? Last viewed: 1 day ago

Loading...

Hey, I attached a couple pictures... The snare wire I have on this snare currently seems to be for a 14" marching snare. Comes just a tad bit short? Part of me is confused how it's supposed to work if I had the right size. The wire I have does work but I have to tie it on there in a way that doesn't seem right so it stays..

Any knowledge of this stuff would be great. What do you call the weird mechanism going on here? Any place to find the right sized ones? Or IS mine the right size??

Looks like you have a Ludwig marching snare with a P-87 strainer. Check with www.drumsonsale.com . They may be able to supply 15" snare wires that work on the strainer and butt that you have.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I have a complete set of snares for a 15" marching drum with gut snares, not wire. They are new Old Stock and still in the package. Contact me if interested or let me know and I can post pictures. I may be able to get my hands on another set or two.

make sure to check the butt plate end as there are 2 different butts for the individual tension units.
