Vistalite Toms Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Hi all.

Did Ludwig ever make vistalite toms with resonant heads that used the small classic lugs? I am seeing more and more of these appear on ebay and am skeptical. I believe they are concert toms drilled out to add the bottom heads. Obvious re-dos are those with clip mount holes and no muffler but are any with the small lugs legit factory drums? Thanks.

8x12 toms would have used small classic lugs. Any of the larger diameter drums I believe used large classic lugs.

I have seen both on the 12". That is why I am confused. Ludwig made both? Any timeline involved?

Ludwig switched from small classic lugs on the 8x12 to large classics late 77 to early 78.

From Legacy drummer

Ludwig switched from small classic lugs on the 8x12 to large classics late 77 to early 78.

Our 12 inch tom with serial number 1336460 (which I estimated as 1977 production) has the small classic lugs which would match the above.

That definitely helps. Thanks. Since I have seen both I didn't know what the deal was.
