Vintage Wood Piccolo Snare Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Hi folks,

I recently obtained this vintage piccolo snare drum and would appreciate any information you might have on it including age, make and approximate value. There are no marking and the dimensions are: Diameter = 14". Height = 2.75" (without lugs). There are 6 lugs and the snare is composed of individual strands of wire wound around a cord core.

This is a Leedy "Tango" snare c,1921-29. Are you sure of the dimensions ? They're cataloged as 3X13".

You're correct - the shell is 13" x 3". Thank you for the identifying information. Do you have any idea what this might be worth if I sell it on ebay? I have a Ludwig set [1963] and don't need this piece.

I might be interested, but don't know how to value it.

Collecting information about the following for ongoing research projects:
Gretsch drums with serial numbers,
Ludwig Keystone and B/O badge drums with serial numbers and date stamps,
Ludwig Standards from 1968-73, and
Ludwigs with paper labels from 1971-72

This one came straight out of a basement - I bought it from an antique dealer in Manhattan. He said that he left the other two drums behind: they were too big!!!

Hi KCDrumDad,

Thanks for your interest in the drum. Since I also have no idea how to price it I plan to list it on Ebay in September. You can contact me [drmdz@optimum.net] or just search 'tango piccolo snare drum'.
