Here's a set of 2 Vintage Slingerland Toms that are scheduled to go up on eBay Sunday 2/5/2012 at 2 pm CST. The description that will appear on eBay is as follows:
************************
Up for auction is one set of two (2) Vintage Slingerland Toms (possibly from the late 60s or early 70s), 1 - 9x13 and 1 - 10x14 (depth x diameter in inches) in used but good condition. The construction of the shells is 3-ply with reinforcement rings with the standard Slingerland clear interiors of the era (see pictures 4 and 5). The drums both have oval Slingerland badges with serial numbers as follows: 13 - 160774 and 14 - 162292 (see note below). These drums at some point have been rewrapped in a Red Pearl type of finish (NOT by me) that is in good condition with minimal signs of wear. Bearing edges are in good condition.
The chrome plated hardware is in good condition with normal wear (consistent with it's age). The internal tone control on both drums is of the "S-hook" variety and in working condition. Both drums have the standard "Set-O-Matic" tom mounting plates of the era. There are 2 extra holes in each drum where at some point in time another type of tom mount had been installed. The holes are visible only from the inside (see picture 5) and were obviously drilled and used before the rewrap job. On the batter side of the 13" drum is a used but usable Remo Weatherking Coated Ambassador head and on the 14" drum is a used but usable original Slingerland Tom-Tom Batter Head (pat. no. 26,415). On the resonant side of both drums is a Remo Weatherking Ebony Ambassador head in very good condition. Please inspect the pictures closely and judge these drums' overall condition for yourself! The drums as pictured are what is included in this auction.
Note: As with much of what I offer here, these drums came to me as a part of a large lot of used percussion equipment that I purchased. In the case of these drums, I CANNOT certify that these drums have all of their original hardware installed, but I can say that at least all of the hardware is period correct. I also cannot certify that these are the original badges, so the badge number information above is supplied for your information only as a part of the description as to the drums' current condition.
