Vintage Rogers??? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

I've seen this CL ad posted several times. Did someone stick the Rogers badge on this drum and try to pass it off? The shell looks nice, but the hardware doesn't look like any of the Rogers snares I've seen here on VDF.

The ad reads:

Vintage Rogers Snare Drum - $150 (Bacliff 77518)

Excellent condition. Looks like maple wood. 10 lugs. Measures 14" by 7". See at Junk & Disorderly in Bacliff today. Call 281-935-3679 for hours

This is a genuine Brooks May era Rogers drum from the late BM period. It is asian maple, of decent quality, and easily confused by people who do not have experience with real vintage Rogers. Had BM survived, who knows what they might have done.

Thanks for the replies. That's some good Info Ploughman. I learn something everytime I visit, Problem is I can't remember it.

James, good to hear from you. I'm glad you're enjoying the snare. I haven't made anymore snares since we visited. Too many projects to finish before I can get back at it. I did just purchase a walnut shell from Vaugncraft. Thinking of doing a vintage repro.

James - That walnut shell sounds cool! I'd love to hear more about those other projects too. We should try to get together again sometime in the next few months. Talk to you soon.

So even tho its later era rogers after the legit co became defunct its still a decent snare right?

At least its not a generic chrome snare with a rogers badge slapped on it like the **** that I had to return..
