Vintage rogers left handed kit

Loading...

I bought this kit recently and then got it home and noticed when setting it up it was left handed!I am a right handed player and was going to restore this kit but decided to go another route. It has the 9/72 small label inside the shells. Can anybody tell me the value of this set? Is it rare? I know I can part it out and do OK, but this kit needs to be restored and played!!! All input would be appreciated. Thanks John

Maybe i get something wrong here-but where can i see it that this set is lefthanded? When i sit behind it all the badges faces forward....so whats wrong with it? As far as i can see it´s a normal 12" 13" 16" 22" kit! But maybe i can not see it on the pics?

Thanks for answering Christian! it is hard to tell in the picture but the rack toms are reversed when all the Rogers badges are facing forward.

The smaller tom (12) is on the left side in the picture as the photo was taken from in front of the drums(non playing side). But when I get behind the kit(players side) it is to my right side! Also the floor tom badge is only facing forward when it is set up to my left. The only way to have all badges facing forward is when it is set up *lefty". I have never owned a Rogers before so I could be wrong but it sure seems like it to me. Would you by chance know where the throw off knob should be located on the floor tom when properly set up? When set up as the picture shows the knob is pointing right at the player when sitting behind the kit (players position). The knobs for the rack toms are opposite the rack mount holes on the drums, but if i were to sit behind the kit (players position) and moved the 12 tom to the left side (standard for right hand player) and the 13 tom to the right the badges would be facing me in the players position not outward to the audience.

So, play them with the rack toms reversed. What difference does it make?

If you want the floor tom badge to face the audience, just turn the drum until it's facing where you want it. I'm not sure what difference it makes where the badges are on the mounted toms, even if it was made for a lefty, I doubt it would increase the value.

I realize I can still play the kit right handed if need be but I was just curious to see if anybody knew if a left handed kit (if it is?) is rare or somewhat common. i will probably just sell it and move on to something else as I mentioned in my first post. I know the kit needs work but if is somewhat rare I figured someone would know and could give me a ballpark value on it. John

Allright,i see! But i am with the others...it does not make a difference where the Badges faces! On my Rogers the Badge of the 13" Tom faces to the player side!

But ,i don´t know if there was something like a lefthanded kit desiged by Rogers-maybe The Ploughman know...i am sure he does! Let´s see when he chimes in here;-)

A few months ago I purchased a Rogers kit (12/13/16/20) with the rack tom badges faces inward (i.e., toward the drummer), in lieu of outward. It was the first one I had seen like that. I'm a lefty, although I was trained to play right-handed. I thought I might set my kit up as a "lefty" to see how I'd like playing that way. Never too late to learn, right (lol)? Since I prefer playing with only one tom "up", I thought I could also set the kit up for a right-handed drummer in a 13/16/20 configuration. I think I've got the best of both worlds. I've attached two pics of my kit -- the first as a "lefty" and the second as a "righty".

That is a rel nice kit Oldschool! And nice decor in the back round as well!

I solved my drum issue!! I took a better look at the toms and realized that 2 badges have been removed on both rack toms! It seems this kit was able to go right or left. The badge mounting hole all so small I missed then earlier. Thanks for your help and comments to all of you.
