VINTAGE (Ludwig?) CYMBAL TILTERS

Loading...

Some years ago I purchased a pair of what were described to me at the time as vintage Ludwig cymbal tilters. I recall paying what I considered a significant amount of money for them since they were in excellent condition, both functionally and cosmetically. I never did make use of the tilters and don't really have the need to do so at this time. I'm trying to determine whether these are, in fact "vintage" tilters, whether they're Ludwigs, and what the value might be in today's market.

THANKS in advance for your time and help!

They seem to be in great condition. I have two old slingerland cymbal stands with tilters that aren't in the great condition yours seem to be in, but I bought them for $25.00 a piece. I would guess about the same if it's just the tilters? With stands... maybe $40-$50 a piece.

I have a vintage Ludwig shell mount cymbal L arm and those look like a perfect match.

These are indeed vintage Ludwig tilters. I'd say mid to late 60s. I've looked all over for these things but never had much luck.

I've got 4 or 5 of them. Probably the best add on tilter out there (well maybe the Swivo is better but you need a drum key for those). They are set up to work on a 1/4" rod rather than 3/8ths so they would go onto a threaded portion of a straight cymbal arm. I drilled one of mine out to 3/8ths so I could use it on top of the "L" arm of a Ludwig shell mount. The other four I've left alone and used on Slingerland "Buddy Rich" cymbal stands in place of the crappy Slingy tilters. They were kind of hard to track down but they do pop up on ebay occasionally. I found a couple in an old line music store. Picked up a couple at the Chicago show, and one off ebay.

They changed along with Ludwig's hardware and I've seen at least one later one that had the big black plastic knobs on it.

I've got one of these tilters that I use on a Slingerland L arm. Forces Bill and Bud to play nice with each other!
