Vintage Ludwig Cases/Throne? Last viewed: 19 hours ago

Loading...

I got these cases and throne in a deal with a MIJ kit today. I am wondering if anyone can tell me the year range that these were made. They are in great shape. Sorry the pics are so bad.

To me, the cases appear to be late 70's or early 80's hard cases. All (but one) of the cases has the blue and olive Ludwig logo sticker in the corner, and the one that doesn't, appears to be a custom case made by the same company that made the Ludwig cases. It fits BOTH 12 inch toms stacked on top of one another. Inside that case it says: "Manufactured by The House Of Quality Chicago Illinois" and has the exact same buckles, straps, and handles as the Ludwig cases. SO the cases are vintage Ludwig sized for: 14x20/6.5x14/14x14 and 18 or sox12 (fits two 12 inch toms) that might be custom, or might just be lacking the sticker.

The throne is a two legs up and one back kind of tri pod thing. Ludwig is stamped on the front, but the seat doesnt have the Ludwig name (or a way to tighten it down to the post) which leads me to believe that the actual seat isnt original.

Anyone got info on these guys?

Thanks as always,

Adam

Very similar.

Mine doesn't have the multiple holes in the main pipe like yours does. Also the seat is black on mine.

ALso, the metal piece on the seat has the number 2340 stamped in the metal. Doesn't say Ludwig anywhere. Does your seat tighten on or does it just sit on there?

Thanks!

Just sits there.... the knurled knob is the release to let the throne adjust, yours is probably set all the way down if you don't see the holes.

Found this out from Ludwig-dude when I got mine. I had to put some 3 in 1 oil in there to get it to come back out, but it did.

Sure enough! There they are! A whole pile of holes!

Cool. So it is all original then? Not selling, but what do you think this thing is worth kevin? How about a set of really nice condition cases? The pics don't do justice to these things. They look really nice.

Thanks,

Oh...just saw your post VM. The seat doesn't have Ludwig stamped on it. Thats why I thought maybe it was a replacement. I will post a pic in a minute here...
