Vintage drums at local auction today.

Loading...

I spent the afternoon at a fun local auction just down the road from the football Hall of Fame in Canton OH. Over 200 lots, all related to music. Instruments, records, stereo stuff, DJ stuff etc. All items picked from estates by the auctioneer. There were people in the crowd from as far away as Reno NV, and some phone bidders from around the US. These are the vintage drums of note that were sold and what my feeble memory recalls for the gavel prices.

Rogers 14in floor tom ($325)

Slingerland snare ($250)

Ludwig chrome snare ($300 or so)

Ludwig and Ludwig 1930's snare (over $500)

Ludwig blue sparkle shells ($650)

Ludwig blue oyster bowling ball shells ($825)

There were a dozen or so old Zildjians too. The best of which were some Istanbul era high hats that went for about $400 I think. I went hoping that the bowling ball kit would go cheap, but there were lots of drummers in the crowd that liked it too. The guys from Reno were not going home without it.

Considering how crazy bidding can get at auctions the equipment went for good/fair prices. I love that keystone deep-dish Super Sensitive, that one made me drool on my keyboard a little.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

A friend on another forum bought the Gold Flash Ludwig snare and some timbales, maybe more.

The Gold Flash buyer was sitting right in front of me. I think he got a few of the ride cymbals as well. We talked briefly, he seems like a nice guy. If you talk to him on the other forum (Why would he be buying 1930's snares and not be on this forum?) tell him I was the guy wearing the Drum Machines Have No Soul t-shirt.
