Value of this Dynasonic Last viewed: 16 hours ago

There's a seller on eBay selling a wood-shell Dynasonic with a starting price of $99.99. They were actually selling it with the entire kit and hardware earlier, but I emailed to let them know that the lugs were the "Standard" lugs from 1968-1972, plus some other bits of information. As a result, they have now listed the kit and snare separately.

Since the original Beavertail lugs had a spacing of 1-15/16" and the Standard lugs are 2-13/16", that's a difference of 1/4"!! Obviously, the holes have either been lengthened to accommodate the Standard lug, or a separate hole drilled. I emailed the seller and requested pictures of the interior, possibly, with one lug removed, to be able to ascertain the damage.

So, my question is... what do you think this drum is worth, based on what's been done to it? Here's the link... http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-1960s-14-X-5-ROGERS-DYNASONIC-SNARE-DRUM-SPARKLING-BLUE-PEARL-/260931855578?pt=Vintgae_Drums_Percussion&hash=item3cc0c024da

I'm refurbishing a 1966 Buddy Rich Headliner kit, in Blue Sparkle, and wouldn't mind adding this snare to it, if it's not too badly damaged.

Your thoughts?

Hey Mark!...

I usually don't get too involved on "values"... but in this case thought I might mention.. ( and you very well may already know this! ) ..

Wrong bottom hoop... wrong snare frame... no muffler... and missing Dynasonic badging. That's a LOT you would have to replace I think! I also think it COMPLETLY devalues this drum.. ( the lugs already included in that assessment ) I guess if you could get the drum real CHEAP... still, needs a LOT!! Maybe you have parts at the ready? :-)

Thanks for replying so quickly! Yes, I could easily tell that the hoops and snare frame were not the originals. I'm really more interested in just the shell. But... I really need to see a picture of how messed up it might be because of the knucklehead who insisted on installing lugs that are spaced 1/4" ****her apart! Geesh... if you're going to install different lugs, chose those that have a 2" spacing!

I wouldn't mind transferring all the parts from my 1966 COB Dyna, just to see how the wood-shell version performs. I just have a feeling that's there's too much structural damage because of those "Standard" lugs.

Why is the word "further" being blanked out? Am I missing something here?

You're going to die when you see WHY the word FURTHER was blocked. Ready? Because you most probably spelled it F A R T H E R. That spells F A R T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have nothing to do with this by the way. It's how the software is set up. STOOPID!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This drum should have a crapload of extra holes.

Its a player, and however you lug it, aint gonna hurt nuthin at this point. With that much damage, I wouldnt waste the time.

Ploughman... you are correct. There will be a ton of extra holes in this shell. It's already a bit over $125, which is more than I want to pay. I'll let some other unsuspecting buyer get this thing! It's just incredibly sad that this had to happen to this shell.
