Value of a Vintage Slingerland Snare Drum

Loading...

Could anyone help me to determine the value of a red sparkle, Slingerland snare drum? The drum has 8 lugs as well as a "cloud" badge. This drum was included in a set of beginner drums which were purchased for our son at a local estate auction. If my research is correct, the cloud badge and the text (Slingerland; Quality Drums; Chicago, IL, USA) sets the manufacture date to the 1928's - 1941 era. The drum is in very good condition, measures 5 1/2" x 14" and has a Ludwig drum head on the top and a Remo drum head on the button.

Our son has lost interest in the drums and we would like to determine the approximate value of this snare drum so that we can ask a fair price for it. Thank you so much.

I tried to include photos but if they are not appearing, I would be happy to send them to an email address. Thanks again.

Hi Dad... It's near to impossible to estimate the value of any instrument sight unseen. The fact that it is from the cloud badge era imbues it with intrinsic value to vintage drum buyers. Without seeing photos it's impossible to assign value. Also, Slingerland drums, for reasons even we (drum collectors,) don't quite understand, are always undervalued. Just my own opinion, but I think Slingerland drums are worth more than they command in today's marketplace.

Post photos, you'll get some good ball-park figures for what you can expect to get from a sale. Maybe even an offer or two!

John

Too many great drums to list here!
