Valuation of Vintage Premier kit with Super Ace 4 snare Last viewed: 21 hours ago

Loading...

Hi,

I recently listed my long since played Premier kit on ebay,

it has been cased and in the loft for 23 years!

I mistakenly listed it as an Olympic but have since been advised by

kind ebay members that it's a Premier and has a rare Super Ace 4 snare.

For that reason, I unlisted it on ebay whilst trying to find more accurate

listing info.

It also has original cases and a Beverley foot pedal.

Any further information on this kit and a suggested value would be gratefully

received.

I believe it to be late 50's / early 60's, though again any more definate

dating information would be great to have.

Pictures are still available to view on ebay:

Thank you for your time and attention,

Cheers,

Steve

I would re-work the eBay listing. Remove the photos of the heads. Those are not important and give us a photo of the badge and the strainer. You will do much better with the listing if you change the photos. I would also probably just photo the cases as one image.

That will give you more room for some better close up shot which we need to help you with the set and also give an eBay buyer a better understanding of what the drums are.

I would also take the chrome snare out of the photo if it is not included. Many people do not read the description.

Then list all of the drum sizes. (Just the shells) maybe take a photo of a drum with the heads off as well so we see the insides.

Providing that to us will also help your listing.

All constructive help and that is what we are here for.

Also closeups of the tom mount, FT leg mounts and at least one shell interior shot.

Now you may want to include one good shot of the kit set in playing position.

Is that a calf head on the bottom FT? Looks like an early 50's, judging by the small tom hoop mount.

ps: painted finish or wrap?

Great photos, these new photos with some of your original photos will really help people narrow down the condition and what you really have.

The Premier Royal Ace snare can sell in the $200 -$400 range.

I would also probably take a side shot of each drum in the listing, then one complete set as stated and these close-up shots.

What type of eBay listing are you going to do? That will also be helpful on how to list the kit or where to start the bid.

Other things to consider.

The local pickup will reduce your end amount. I have seen a lot of local pick-up auctions end under what I thought the drums were worth.

If I wanted this kit and had the money, I would pay $800 for a nice complete kit like this. Would someone pay more? That is the question and I'm sure someone would. So that is why I was asking on your listing and what your plans were.

This is not a value, but what I would pay.

"value is in the eye of the person that really wants these."

Thanks to all for your valued comments and advice on how best to sell

this kit.

I note in WEBMASTERS last post you referred to the snare as a Royal Ace,

I had previously identified this snare as a Super Ace 4 on this website:

http://rogerkelly.weebly.com/premier.html

Is the information on the roger kelly site correct?

Thanks again for your help, will let you all know when it's back on ebay!

Cheers,

Steve

Yes, that is good information you reference.

Still a Royal Ace, in general terms, the Super 4 is the name for the smaller shell drum, so you are correct adding the Super 4 to the name for the 50's era.

I know at some point in the early 60's when the lugs changed it was just called the Royal Ace 4" model.

So you are good to go and good luck with the auction!
