Does anyone play V Drums? I have a TD3 kit I use for practicing (its great because wife can't complain about the noise LOL) anyway, I wanted to upgrade my cymbals, but when I go to ebay I see all kinds of different roland models, some cymbals are selling for as much as $349 for one, which is crazy. I wondered if anyone knows what model would be a good upgrade without spending that much coin.

Alesis offers compatible electronic cymbal pads.
The model cymbal is limited to some degree by the model brain you run. There are some cymbals that allow you to grab and mute them, multiple zones, etc. Some brains do not support those features. It's best you do some homework in this area. I ran a sweet Roland kit I built. It took a serious amount of research to find the best pieces parts for my needs. All told, I ran a snare pad, four tom pads, a hi-hat pad set, and five cymbal pads (and other bits and pieces). There was variety in those in size and response. Read Read Read.
Hello!
Why do you want to upgrade the cymbal pads?
I also use the TD3 for practicing - you can choke the cymbal by holding it close to the edge, you have a cup zone, a ride zone and a crash zone, you can lay two different sounds (crash&china for example) on one pad. What are you looking for in an upgrade?
And, as already said, not every pad works with the TD3-Module. When I would be looking for an upgrade, the sound module would be the first thing to be changed, followed by the HH-pad(s) and then some meshheads for the toms also.

The problem I have is sometimes when I hit the cymbal (happens on both of them) I don;t get any response, its like hitting a dead pad, its frustraging because its intermitent. I looked in the manual and adjusted pad sensativity along with other adjustmensts, still does the same thing, so I figured maybe a better cymbal would take care of this. it is possible that due to my lack of technical skills, I'm still missing an adjutement on the brain that would fix this issue.
