Hi -
Does anyone know the history of U.S. Mercury drums? I've heard they were originally STAR, which of course later became Tama. Beautiful mid-60's kit for sale on CR for $350. Red Tiger Pearl with snare, mounted tom, floor tom and bass with cymbal holder. Tear drop off -set lugs. Shells have re-rings and edges look very nice. The snare has a throw off "arm" that looks very similar to the Gene Krupa snare in the photo on Vintage drumforum home page. I am NOT comparing the two!I assume the shells are Luan wood but have heard that these cheap shells have actually hardened over time and can now be considered a "musical instrument". Wrap is tight and chrome has zero pitting. Any information or web sites would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
