I assume you're talking about the mount on the tom?

Not long ago, Ludwig began knurling the inside of the eyebolt that grabs the scored post on the consolette, which makes it grip 100% better. The thread is the same, so you can still use the existing nut.

Perhaps just buying a new mount (P-1612-D) is a better solution, that way the holes on the mount are tight for a less sloppy grip. Of course the nut is replaced by a larger wing nut, but I think you can put the old nut on if you like (the new mounts have the knurled eyebolt.) It fits the same holes, and looks fairly identical.

Bermuda

Yeah, the bracket attached to the shell. However, i am not having problems with the bolt you've mentioned. Rather, the 2 screw holes that fasten the bracket to the shell itself have questionable threading.

Regardless, you are right about replacing the entire bracket. Can't find that piece you've mentioned online though. Could you possibly send a link my way? Thanks, Bermuda.

Oops, it's the P-1216-D, and should be available at any well-stocked Ludwig dealer, or they can order it. Midwestpercussion also has it (see Ludwig, Tom, Floor and Bass Brackets) for $14.95, which seems like a decent price.

If those two screw holes are actually stripping out, then you'll definitely need a new bracket.

I've had all the different variations of this bracket and have never had an issue with stripped threads. Rather, there tends to be internal deformation caused by extensive over-tightening of the wing screw or bolt. Again, a new bracket, like Bermuda mentioned, should take care of your problem.
