trying to identify my drum Ludwig Snare

Loading...

I have a Ludwig snare drum that I am attempting to identify and perhaps appraise. Here is what I know.

It is a 14" head

It has 10 lugs

The shell appears to be hammered brass or copper. (I'm not sure which.)

It has a Ludwig Keystone badge with 7 digit serial. (picture below) 3127269 and says Chicago.

I think that's about all I know. I'll post some pictures. any healp would be great.

Looks like a Hammered Bronze Supraphonic (Supra). The large keystone badge made in Monroe and the presence of a tone control would place it mid 80s to mid 90s give or take a year or two. Looks to be the 5x14 version from what I can see. These are nice sounding drums. Check Ebay completed auctions for a good idea on value.

Looks like 1984 anniversary badge (84-85)

Last of the Chicago era before moving to Monroe.

Except it (kinda) clearly says Chicago, mine has a Monroe badge, I bought it new in '90. Great snare, they made some hammered bronze piccolos (3x13) too, I'd like to have one.

Yep, 84-85 with the Chicago badge. Sorry about missing that. Some of those during that period also had bowtie lugs. Some had serial numbers and some did not.

I've got that same snare ( down to the large keystone "Chicago" badge) and if I had to pare the herd down to only one snare there's about a 95% chance that one would be the keeper.
