Trixon Kit Last viewed: 16 hours ago

Hi Folks!

I found this Trixon kit and wondering how collectable it is. There's not a lot of info available on these kits. Any ideas on the quality and what I should pay and are there parts available for these? Any info on the model and year would be great.

Any input is appreciated. I included a picture but it's not the greatest quality but maybe it'll help.

As always many thanks!

They are EXTREMELY collectible -especially when they are in good condition and especially especially when the bass drum heads are intact (because they are expensive to replace and have to be custom ordered).

I can tell you that the bass drum is usually seen in a "Speedfire" model configuration with a string of single-headed toms in "reverse" order. But yours is a different configuration. The bass drum is shaped that way to facilitate a dual tone effect -depending on which side of that center bottom lug you mount your pedal. It's either a small bass drum or it's a large bass drum!

I think the finish is called "Blue Croco" and it is extremely fragile and tears easily. I believe the lugs are plastic as well -or parts of them are. So, you have to be more careful with them and I wouldn't recommend torquing down on the lugs to try and get the tension high for that reason.

As far as value? I don't know. Hopefully a Trixon collector will see this and chime in with more information.

Cool drums! Thanks for sharing!

Trixon basses make me feel a bit better about my old Slingy bass that's just a little bit out of round on the reso side. ;)

Excellent find!

I think you have the snare on the wrong side though Cool Dude

That set MIGHT have come with calf heads............I had a Trixon BD once like that.

There is a Trixon book out,but it is around $50

Wow a complete Trixon set.The set dates to the mid 1965-68 and is a very hard set to fine.Yes o-lugs is right on the color "Blue Croco" its a paper foil finish. The lugs are made of metal but they do have a rubber gaset that goes next to the drum..As far as replacement parts they are very hard to come by i do have a few parts for Trixon drums lugs,T-rods,ete...What i would pay for the set is 1,000.00-1,500.00 because the sets complete and looks like in good condition....Mikey

Wow that's awesome and some great information on a strange looking set. Unfortunately the seller never replied to me! I'm thinking they will reappear at much more expensive price in the near future:) This has happened to me a few times when looking for vintage gear. If they do make a comeback I hope I'm first in line!

many thanks!
