Here a thing i started doing. If you know or see guys that pick up garbage / scrap metal and stuff like that so they can re-the junk for money.

chances are these guys have seen drums just sitting there , what i do i be friend them and give them my contact number just incase they make a find , and i let them know that they can make more money with me rather than draging a few pieces of metal to the scap for change , you can get a great deal this way . be kind with these guy's and be fair and they will have an incentive to look harder for you . just my tip , for you guy's and it works

I've been tempted to make some business cards up and hand them out to local antique and consignment shops. I've even thought about going to the local mini storage people and talking with them.

I blindly called antique shops across the country for YEARS looking for stuff..

Almost a complete waste of time..except 1 time..

In Waterloo,Iowa,I found a Ludwigold 28" BD and Ludwigold snare..

$200!

Had factory oil painted scene on BD..

Flipped them to Japan for $2,500...

I figured that paid for all my phone calls/time for however many years I did that...

1 agree with you 100%! antique dealer's 99% of the time is a wast of time.

And when they do have drums it's always an mij kit with a ludwig /slingerland bass heads on them , and the drums must have been played by ringo him self.

Antique dealer will swear by that being the truth , cause the bass heads and tom heads say so! , I'm always glad to hear valuble info like lol.

Now that i said that , Murphy's law will kick in for me , next week my local antique shop will have a extra rare bird of a snare fo 20$ lol.

The only 'trick' to finding good deals is; constant, consistent research.

Research, research, research. Then you'll need a little luck too. But it's mostly just good old fashioned hard 'leg work' to come up with a good one once in awhile. I spend hours each day looking. On average, I come up with two maybe three good deals a year. Mucho work for minimal results. But if you find the right ones, it makes it all worth while.

Too many great drums to list here!
