Trans badge Ludwig in "Starlight Sparkle"?

Very cool kit! Call me stupid, but I didn't realize that Ludwig ever used those kinds of tom mounts (on the rack tom), unless it is not original??

the diamond mount on the ride tom? yep. quite popular through the early 60's on various ludwigs. my 65 13" clubdate tom has one.

Tom plate was original. The only thing I added that wasn't original was the rail mount on the bass drum. I bought a Steve Maxwell replacement and it not only looks great, it actually works! The rack tom stays where you put it.

Damn, I miss those drums. I hope they sell soon, put me out of my misery seeing them on the auction block.

hey there, i just got these drums and they sound great! i was trying to figure out the deal with the odd finish and came across this thread. to me it looks most like the gretsch starlite sparkle, but the seller was calling it burgundy sparkle. it's strange. sometimes it looks dark gray, sometimes purple.
