Not sure how to proceed here, so I'll spell it out. I had an ad on Criags list "wanted, old drums, cymbals" so I get a response from a guy saying he wants to get rid of a bunch of stuff. he leaves his number, I call him, I start out say can you give me a idea of what you have and take some pictures (he lives around 2.5 hours away) he goes, No, thats impossible, I have drums from the floor to my ceiling all over the house. I try to get more info.......so how many sets, do you think you have? and what age. he goes most are vintage, he guess's around 80 complete sets, he says all brands, Ludwig , Slingerland, Camco, Rogers, and more than 50 snares. I asked if any were supra's, he says yes, a few are. so I keep going. I said if I came up there, I can't pay retail, so if he's asking for big money on the stuff, its not worth my drive, he goes, I want it ALL gone. hmmmm, now it gets more interesting, he says he can fill a 52 foot semi with drums. so I go, give me an idea what you want for the whole lot, he says 15k firm and its all yours. I don't know what to do. first off all I dont have a truck like that (who the hell does) secondly I would partner with someone on the deal. mabe even three people 5k each. I just think this is just to good to be true if what he is saying is fact. I emailed drumfactory, I met him at the drum show, I know he would rent a truck if he smelled a deal like this. what do you guys think I sholuld do, I told the guy, we are too close to the holiday, I would call him after jan 1. Now I won't be able to sleep dreaming of what could be a gold mind.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
TGTBT, I'd say. Anyone with this much vintage percussion would know you're looking well above 100k. I'd bring Smith and Wesson along on that excursion.
Curious to hear how this tale plays out - chris
just be careful. talk with him plenty. this could be a mess if he is dishonest and knew you were coming there with that kinda dough...

He should be able to at least provide pictures. Sounds like BS.
"If it's too good to be true... it usually is!"
Proceed with extreme caution if at all. If you do go, don't go alone. Personally, unless the guy can produce a bunch of photos -showing- what he's got, I wouldn't go. The whole thing smacks of BS/scam to me.
