Thoughts on this Gretsch kit or did I do a dumb thing or not?

I have a Gretsch set with those mounts. Despite that big mount the Toms sound sweet. On the mount they are in complete balance with the floor tom that I have fitted out with ISO feet. If I need that endless BOOOIIINNGG sound I have my DW's and a Sonor Hilite set for that. Anyway most people these days mount up on a snare stand so it makes no odds. You'll get that Gretsch-ness coming through.

I did buy it. I already bought it when I first posted. I will say that I have learned a ton about Gretsch today. I feel like I just crammed for an exam. I have been to numerous websites, read post after post as well as looking at Ebay's completed items etc. The whole square badge on a seventies kit still does not make sense but I am going to assume that logic is out of the window on older drums like these.

I see a diamond plate on the floor tom.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

The Gretsch badge thing can be confusing. Here are pics of two different early 80's sets with SSB 8x12 toms and the rest of the drums are SQB.

Never play it the same way once.

I recently got a 1970s Gretsch Kit with the Monster tom holder and I love it. Just be careful to do all adjustments SLOWLY. I got lucky and found basically a NOS bracket otherwise I was looking at retapping the original.

That's what is known as the "drop G" stop sign badge it only appeared for a year or so around 1981.

I have a set in rosewood stain, with those badges and Techware mounts.
