Thoughts on landing ZZ top gig>?

Loading...

I would like an opinion here, last year we were fortunate to open for REO at Rib Fest the largest out door fest in the mid west. This year I foud out ZZ Top will head line. I already sent the promoter a nice email, expressing our interest in performing along side ZZ Top, its been 2 weeks, no repsonse. I want to call him, but I dont want to be unprofessional. I understand they have to give other bands a chance as well. The guys are really pushing me to get this gig, but I'm not sure calling him is the answer, I'm not good at begging either LOL....should I just let it go, or give it one more push with a call. This would be a dream gig for sure.

Call ...

It's not unheard of to 'ask' for a gig. That's called "promotion".

One of a few things will happen ...

WHEN you are told 'no', stay professional and thank him for consideration and wish him well on his gigs. Let him know you will be in attendance supporting the gig. It's just good business.

IF he says 'yes', thank him and celebrate ... and practice you butt off so you don't let him down.

He may see you as an amazing man with inhuman fortitude and fire Frank on the spot and hire you to fill the recently vacated position.

One of those things will most likely play out.

If you want to work make the call and bring out the high points why you should get the gig , and why they will benefit buy havin you guy's there. Repeat phone call's after that will be un-professional and a turn off. I have friends in the concert promoting biz that get me work , most of the pro's will take the time to listen to you if you have an established past or you have someting to offer them. Never hound or beg that will put the bullet in the head of your good name. Good luck i also have a band that's sponsered by me that will be playing rib fest in eastern ontario Canada this summer.

^^^^ Yup call him. Tell him you just wanted to be sure he got your last email. It might have been lost or went to the spam box you never know. And your just checking in to see where you stand. And available if needed. Also let him know you can be on call/standby incase something happens if another group is chosen and can't make the gig. And most of all good luck I hope you get the gig!!
