Well, if My Blue Satin "FLAME" Slingos had been delivered with those "RIPPLES"... visible from any angle, I would have sent them back.

And... why Two 12" toms?

Cheers

In the late 50's early 60s' for some reason, most if not all drum companys started with two 12 " mounted.Ludwigs first Hollywood kits for example came with two 12's.Mid 60's 12 and 13 were offered.Just what they did back then.

A year after Slingerland introduced tuneable toms they went backward to tack bottom toms.Just boggles the mind sometimes.Cheers

As previously stated, the early double mounted tom kits were typically double 12s. I've got Ludwig, Rogers, and Slingy kits in this configuration. I believe they were more concerned about asthetics, and considered the 2 12s to look more "balanced".

You win the cookie (chocolate chip) for that post. The drum set looked balanced from the audience side with two toms of the same size. Tuning was never a problem with any of the many drum sets I used with two 12s or two 13s. How many of the same size toms did Keith Moon use?

The Satin Flame wraps on those drums look good in the photo. My hunch is that they look good at a distance of three feet or more. If I saw them up close, $400 would be a good price if they look good, are in round, sound good, and are truly Slingerlands.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Just another question, I thought the badges on Slingerland hanging toms always faced forward, with the dampers to the rear. Did this only apply to later kits??

Cheers
