They're on the way!!

About a month ago, I asked opinions of what lug sizes to get on a new Ludwig Maple Custom kit, in Downbeat sizes. Here's the link... http://vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=30815

I placed my order on June 27 and was told it would be a minimum of 8 weeks. No problem with that!

Just received an email with all the tracking numbers for 4 boxes, shipped today, from Monroe, NC! Should arrive on August 7. I'm really excited!

Yes, I'll have to have the spurs installed. I'm very capable of doing this myself, but will bring them to Heurer's Drum Lab in Burbank for installation, as I'm also having Chris check all bearing edges on his milled granite slab. This is where he also cuts his edges. I haven't yet mentioned to Ludwig that this will be done. Ludwig knows who Chris is and has even sent drums directly to him for repairs of lifting wrap on warranty repairs of Legacy drums! Don't even get me started on the quality (or lack of) on the Legacy series! Chris even joked if I really want to watch as the edges are checked! He's feeling confident that Ludwig has worked out their QC with edges. If not, Ludwig will be hearing from me! I spent a nice amount of $$$ for a custom kit and I expect close to perfection! LoLoLoLo

I'll also have Chris install my rail consolette, tom mount and tone controls. I can certainly do all this myself, but it's more fun to hang with Chris while he does the work.

Once complete, pictures will be posted!

Sounds like a great set! After all the perfection are you sure you want to install curved spurs? The ones they use on the new clubdates look a lot like the 60's version and black galaxy was long gone from any catalog by the time the curved spurs debuted.(1969)

My legacy set came with concescutive B/O badges and I never asked Ludwig to do that. That was an added surprise. I have a matching canister waiting for me at the music store that I need to get. The store is an hour away for me though so I need to just get time to do it! Congrats on the new purchase!

wflkurt... your point is well taken about the spurs! Now I'm not sure what spurs to install! The new Club Date spurs are OK, but they're not available separately. I may think about using the first generation P1216 bracket, which were built like a tank compared to the later brackets. See the attached pictures for comparison. While the original P1216 used a 1/4" eye-bolt, the later versions used a 5/16" eye-bolt. The other two pictures show how I modified the 5/16" eye-bolt to fit the original P1216 casing. Really strong! I've got quite a few of the P1216's and would only need the gull-wing legs. I'll give this some serious thought. The kit would only be used indoors anyway and not subject to heavy pounding that would move the bass drum!

You really got an added bonus with your consecutive badges! Midwest Percussion, where I purchased the kit, asked Ludwig about consecutive badges and the answer was they couldn't do this! My guess is that they'd have to pay someone to go through the can of hundreds of badges to find 4 consecutive ones! Maybe I'll luck out with very close numbers, though!
