The Round Badge Is Back!

I just saw this on Steve Maxwell's site. How cool!

It looks like Gretsch is paying attention. USA drums only. The badge and grommet are aged to give it that vintage look. USA drums ordered after Oct.1st will have the new badge.

Who's gonna be first?

I am pleased to see this. I've never been a fan of the large and ostentatious company names emblazoned on merchandise. One of the reasons I've always liked some of the simple vintage markings. To see a business reduce the company markings ... well, that is a good thing.

I completely agree with RogerSling! Logos for brand recognition have gotten out of control with most companies. For the vast majority of brands, it's easy to tell who/what they are just by the hardware... just like in the good old days of our beloved US-built drums! It was also those small, but distinctive, badges that characterized each manufacturer. Kudos to Gretsch for bringing this badge back!

Well, they've had some sort of rounded badge on their retro lines of drums for some time already. But it is nice thing to see such a traditional company going back to its roots.
