Hail fellow well met, as they say. Glad you got to know him and of course, great snare!

Rims,
Thanks for sharing that wonderful story and the pics of a truly rare bird. I had to look that one up in that catalogs.

When you think that Dyna's back in 1962 cost more than most average workers made in a week, these snares couldn't have been flying off the shelves at Rogers, and then think how few 8x15's must have been ordered (and how few of those have actually survived intact to the current date). It's nice to see when the custodianship of fine, rare drums falls into deserving hands. I'm sure that you're going to treasure that drum for your entire life.

1962 minimum wage in California was 1.00 an hour. To put it in 2016 perspective, a Dyna-Sonic today would run you about 1100.00.

Sounds like buying a Craviotto snare today..!
This is such a heart-warming story! Thanks for making my day...and congrats on acquiring such a fantastic drum and keeping your good neighbor's memory alive!

That's pretty cool. I didn't know Rogers had a "Jet Black" wrap back then. Good stuff! Thanks man enjoy the wonderful Dyna!
Yes, GREAT story and amazing drum. You were obviously meant to be its second caretaker.
