I think he is talking about people like me who have a few vintage kits but are not really players at all. It's all good. We are all entitled to our opinions. I gave a 66 Slingerland kit to my niece who has shown a real interest in percussion... She plays it everyday. I have a red sparkle 60's Ludwig kit set aside for my son when he graduates from college. I have a Krupa 1-n kit that my dad and I found... He was a drummer when Gene was the man! So that kit is special to me for a lot reasons. And I have my little Rogers Tower kit that is probably poorly tuned and I don't play it well but it brings me great joy to put on some jazz, Motown, or hits from some era and pretend I CAN play. So we all have reasons for our pile of drums... Mine may not match up with the next guys... But that's ok... I'm happy! :)

caddywumpus: It's obviously a joke. Intended to make fun of people who don't use vintage drums...the rest its part of an old joke here on the forum. Sorry if it didn't sound like one. Now about the volume, you don't need to smack "the living daylights" out of a drum set to make it sound big. I tell you: my teacher Jon Hyde doesn't even rise his elbows or the heel but boy he sounds HUGE!!!!

johnnyringo, i know your posts well enough to never take them too seriously as many times they are of a "tongue in cheek" variety. Yet other times they are very valid and to the point which is what i dig about your posts.Keep us guessing-love it.
