So if you have a COB Supraphonic snare, what would the difference be from a Black Beauty, with the exception that it is black?
Hopefully, I won't get 'boo'-ed for this question.
Thank,
Kevin

I have a 1970s Black Beauty as well as a 1960 COB Supra, heres the differences/similarities:
The obvious:
(Badge) BB: B/O /w serial --- 400: Keystone, no serial
(Strainer) BB: P-85 Black Face --- 400: P-83
(Size) BB: 14*6,5 --- 400: 14*5 (of course there's both sizes for both drums out there)
(Muffler) BB: Large round knob --- 400: Small round knob
Other Stuff:
(Snare Bed) BB: "normal Snare Bed" --- 400: crimped Snare Bed
(Bearing Edges) BB: "Normal" --- 400: rolled twice (what was the correct term for that again...?)
(Shell) BB: no seam (that i can see) --- 400: welded seam
(hoops) BB:Steel --- 400: COB
(Sound)
Well of course a 6,5 sounds different from a 5... both are great drums. in comparison i feel that the COB400 sounds a bit "softer". The BB is quite loud, but not uncomfortable. both are very warm sounding drums....
so much for now.....
btw: booooooo!!! ;)
