I posted a while back about the opportunity to pick up a 1978 6.5 Supra SS for about $200 but found out the strainer is loose and needs repair. It looks like all the parts are there but the mechanism is loose. Is it still worth it and how difficult is it to repair or replace parts. The rest of the drum is in fairly good condition.

Thanks John, your willingness to share information is greatly appreciated. Considering the fact that repairs and even some replacements may be necessary and that the rest of the shell is in OK condition, is $200 a good price?
yeah, $200 bones for a complete one in need of some love ain't half bad.
Hows the Chrome, are the hoops matching, all the tbolts look correct, etc.
Mike, I have spare parts and I'd be happy to put it right/playable for you. But you have to take into consideration, 1. paying me, 2. paying for shipping both ways, 3. paying for whatever parts need to be replaced.
All told, it could jack the price of the drum to the point where you're better off paying a bit more up front for one that works, right out of the box.
Your call... just being honest with you.
John
