once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Well played!! Or when you have to squeeze your way through stacks of drums to get anywhere in your house. I did speak with Jack Lawton once and he said some guy had somewhere in the range of 300 vintage kits. So I guess you are not that bad off.
