Speaking of Ludwig Standards...

Okay, I'll admit, this is a rarity... not even scarce in my book:

An eBay auction, and if these were mine, they wouldn't be here! They would be happily tucked away in my garage. Unfortunately I'm kind of low on space. I need to find a 'drum shrinker' tool that will convert a kit to thimble size and then expand it back up when needed. I'll check 'Harbor Freight', they must have something like that.

Verbiage below:

I have a RARE vintage Ludwig Standard drum set in blue astro wrap from early 1970's. Model S350-C as shown on page 288/ Rob Cook , The Ludwig Drum book.

This is a 6 piece drum set, featuring:

** (2) -22" x 14" virgin bass drums, 12" x 8" ,13" x 9" toms & 16" x 16" floor tom & a chrome plated model S-101 metal snare drum.

**All wooden drums are 3 ply with the reinforcement rings (Classic shells)

**Auction does include the double tom stand model S-230 shown, 2 sets of bass drum spurs & one set of floor tom legs as shown in pics. No other hardware or cymbals included with this auction.

**The overall condition of the set is good, although the set does show some average wear to the wrap. The wrap itself, is in good shape, showing no splits, cracks etc. just typical scuffing and minor spidering. Wrap could use a good polishing..... I would rate it 6.5 to 7.0 out of 10.

**All chrome is VG, showing less than average wear. Everything works as it should, no missing parts.

**The set appears to be mostly original, except for a few bass drum T rods, claws & heads.

**Drums sound fantastic! Warm & woody and typical of that great Ludwig era!

I saw that the other day.I don't think I've ever seen that kit in a catalog. Now I'll have to dig our Rob Cooks book.

The price isn't all that unreasonable. That is one beautiful set or drums.

HOLY SMOKES!!!

DOES THIS MEAN???

The boss (wife, or blonde-one-who-must-be-obeyed) stepped into my office a bit ago, and I showed her some of the pictures of this kit. Her response:

'Wow, those are pretty... but where would you put them? Did you buy them already?

So, my question to all us manly men out in drum land is:

Did she just give me permission to get this kit? Or better yet, is there any way I can convolute, misconstrue or otherwise bend a language (any language really, maybe you Euro Folks can help me here) so that what she said indicates not only permission but encouragement to buy these?

Help me out here...

My wife got a kick out of this post... but didn't indicate whether there was permission given or not...

Shoot, go ahead and buy them and have them shipped to me! I would keep them for you!! :)

fishwaltz, keep us posted on how this all goes down. I saw this kit the other day--I'm not crazy about double basses, two toms, or flashy wraps, but still think this one is awesome! Hope someone we know gets these. Maybe fish....marko
