I called this seller about this kit a few days ago he had it listed with the $1 BS on it, I asked him what is your asking price he stated 1600.00????? I told him I have the same color, year and sizes as his kit in VGC with an autographed 400 with Mr Ludwig II in VGC I told him I might get 1800 if lucky for mine. I told him his color has nothing to do with the ringo beatles kit that color is Black diamond pearl, ringos color is called oyster black pearl. completely different colors, with all his issues ripped wrap on the bass drum, missing parts on the floor tom damaged bearing edges. He told me won't sell it for any less, I wished him a good day ???Help2 http://raleigh.craigslist.org/msg/4759506950.html

I run into that type of thing fairly often. Drove all the way down to Tulsa one time to look at what was advertised as a "Ringo" kit on CL. The pictures were of very poor quality... but my wife likes to go shopping and I was picking up another kit anyway. Well, the only thing "Ringo" about it was the 22-16-13 configuration; in fact, it was blue oyster and not black oyster, besides the fact it was in terrible condition. But... he had a "musician friend" who told him what it was and what it was worth, so he wasn't about to budge on his price. Well, I guess he probably thought I was just trying to take him or something!

On the other side of that coin, there have been many times I've picked things up really, really cheap...

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

But, but, the snare has black stuff on it! Doesn't that put the price through the roof? lol

It's pretty amusing to imagine someone saying that, given the evidence...some guy from a low budget 40s flick "say, buddy..."

Gary it seems that way doesn't it. I told this store owner if he needs any drums to sale I would be more than happy to supply him with as many as he wants. But I'll use his pricing system to sale mine to him.:)

Craiglist is pretty much a joke here in St. Louis. I recently bought a late sixties Slingerland kit and promised the wife I would sell off a couple of sets to re-coup the dough. I have a four piece 1982 Tama Imperialstar in great shape for $290, a four piece Mapex MyDentity (100% maple) with matching snare for $299 and a mint 1979 Tama Superstar four piece 100% birch shell in original maple finish for $650. I have yet to have one frigging phone call. It's almost like I would have to put these kits up for free to actually garner some interest.

I understand your frustration Mark. I've looked at many a kit on CL and said to the person who was selling what I thought was fair. A couple of times it came back to me in a good way. They didn't get any offers and I was straight up with them.

On a side note, I found a drum I was looking for to complete a kit on eBay. The seller had a pretty high price and the last drum similar to it, in a very desired finish sold for almost half of what the seller is asking for theirs. I sent a couple of offers, only to get shot down, both being more than the last type sold for. I'll just wait for another one to come by.....

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....
