Snare Wires for 1928 Pioneer Snare?

Loading...

Hi everyone, I'm new here but so far I'm amazed at the knowledge on the site!

I have what I believe to be a 1928-1930 Ludwig Pioneer snare. One piece brass shell. 4"x14"

Can anyone give me some advice on what snare wires to buy or if I have to track down vintage ones? Never had a drum this old. Looks like it has a narrow space for the wires like a 12 strand? I couldn't find a 12 strand for 14" anywhere.

thanks a lot!

These:

I've got them on my 30's NOB Pioneer, and on a 5.5 wood WFL. They sit nicely in vintage beds and sound great!

thanks! much appreciated! will order right away.

I'm excited to get this drum going. it has a calf skin head and, from the looks of it, all the original hardware. The shell is brass and I like the tarnish on it..just super cool looking all around!

thanks again.
