I have been given a Ludwig snare to clean up and would like to know more about it. It is a Ludwig with the badge from the 1950's. It says WFL Drums on top and Ludwig drum co. Chicago, IL on the bottom. Inside the shell looks like a number nine hand written and a stamp that says Nov 8 1958 in red ink. The shell is wood and has a three layered paint job with green on top and bottom and I believe it's yellow in between. Could be white though. The drum does seem rather old and it really IS paint. Lots of cracks and chips in the paint. The lugs all use two screws. The strainer is a lever trigger. Both top and bottom of the shell have a reinforced rim that stands out further inside the shell than the actual shell. The bottom rim has grooved out spots for the snares to sit in. Can you tell me if it has any value and a bried history of the drum?
