Slingy Krupa "Dent"

Hi everyone! (and sorry for my poor english again)

Now i'm working on a Slingerland Sound King Gene Krupa 14x5 10 lugs - Niles Black and Brass oval badge ^^

It's seems to have some dent around the Strainer (both side) but i don't know very well this snare... so if someone can help me!!! Bowing

look at these pictures, blue and yellow marks (specialy the blue one look like a falling dent/bump... and the yellow one look better normal because of the snare bed, right?).

So... can i let the yellow and remove the blue one?

any advice or recommandation to make that repair?: I really want to do right thing on it, it's my collection, not for sale.

That is correct.. The yellow is the crimped snare bed..

A local auto panel shop should take out the dent very easely

That is a very easy fix and a common problem when they are dropped, Get a soft rubber hammer/ mallet, place the drum shell on a towel and lightly hammer from the inside of the shell tap the dents out it will take you no time at all to perform this repair, I have done this many many times. it will look good as new.

The dummy tab or idiot tab made the smaller of the two blue outlined dents.

Nobody else mentioned it, so I will add that the reason for the dents is over tightening the strainer.

I agree it is easily fixed at home with a soft mallet and finesse.

About Zoomatic and snare wire: i have read that:

My snare wire is not original, and i don't have any metal tab... How do we know if there is one as an original part of the snare or not? the strainer seems the same in both way...

Like the link said, the earlier drums had the extended snares with the tab. I think I saw a date of 1966 as the year they went to regular snares.

The majority of drums for sale do not have the original extended wires.

It is only a little bit longer, barely extended at all.
