So the SSOM was available in 76, but didn't come out until 77/78. Then I take it if they were on 69 - 73, they were not original to the year? The SOM were suppose to be on those models. Just trying to keep everything correct. Thanks...Bucky
SSOM isn't in the '73 catalog (probably published in 1972) but is in the '76 catalog (probably issued in 1975) so it falls between the cracks for catalog listing but was obviously introduced sometime between late 1972 and approx. 1975.
You could probably narrow it down further by looking in Down Beat or other music related magazines (no Modern Drummer yet though) for an ad or press release touting the introduction of their "new and improved" tom holder.
Rob Cook's Slingerland book might have some additional info as well.
The bass drum factory bracket placement should help you identify which holder you should have although it's a bit unclear if Slingerland realized that they needed to move the bracket for the SSOM forward at the very beginning.
Well... It's not in my '76 catalogue... First time I saw one downunder was '77... But allow 12 mths backlog for international orders... I do think '76 was when it was released... I was pretty much up on Slingerland at the time.. and an avid enthusiast of the brand.. (up until '76 I was also working as Stock controller for the OZ importer)..

I think your right on the SSOM timeframe. I bought my new Slingerlands in 74 from Frank Ippolito's PPC shop in NYC. We spent some time on tom mounts as I wanted Rogers Swivo. They didn't carry them but the short story is the SOM is what I used to start. Drums went thru a few configs later with Camco mounts.
My 68 kit has the 1st gen SOM. This puts the toms away from me a bit. But I adapt.
