Slingerland's purchased on C.L.

Hey guys,

I picked this set up yesterday, I believe it's a late 70's set in Blackrome. The snare is a 5 x 14, w/10lugs, s.n. 369---, and is not magnetic. I'd like to know what model snare do I have and its worth. I'm not selling, just curious how I did. I also snagged the cymbals, Zildjians with the block letters on the bottoms, 14 HH's, 18, 20, and all the stands.

Thanks Guys

Hi Joe....how's the family (!) ;)

Nice snag...I won't comment on what model the snare is, I am not up on my chrome snares.

Nice kit though...are the wraps in decent shape ? Also, are the shells thin ply with reinforcing rings, or the thicker 5/6 ply maple ones ?

I absolutely LOVE that kit. That's so cool. I've always loved that Blakrome finish. I've told the story many times about having that doggone drum in my hands ready to order the kit ... and passing on it. REGRETS!!! That's a Krupa Sound King snare. I have one and will vouch for them. They play GREAT. In case you haven't heard...I'm hanging on to mine with my kit. Just couldn't bring myself to part with it. Actually, the wife saw how much I had connected with it and refused to let me sell it. It'll be around for awhile. You've got one of only three other Slingerland kits I've ever wanted to own. I just can't get over that cool finish. And yours are the DOUBLE headed toms!!! Too sweet for words.

I'm as curious as Jaye.......what about the shells?

Hey Jaye & MC,

The wraps are descent, they need a good cleaning, and the shells are 5 ply maple. Just wondering MC, the snare must be brass then? I'm really happy with this find, a cool $600 for the whole kit and kaboodle. I couldn't drive there fast enough, lol. Jaye, the families doing fine. lol
