Slingerland Wrap Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Can one of you Slingerland experts confirm whether the wrap in the pics I've attached is Sparkling Pink Pearl or Sparkling Pink Champagne?

Also, would the wraps on the drums manufactured in Shelbyville in 1965 match those manufactured in Niles in the same year? In other words, would a tom with a Sparkling Pink Champagne wrap manufactured in Shelbyville match a snare with the same wrap manufactured in Niles?

Thanks in advance for your time and your help.

Looks like champagne sparkle to me. I think that other than slight differences batch to batch all champagne sparkle offered around the same time period would be very much alike.

Here's a picture of both wraps on my early 60's Leedy Shelly Manne snare in Pink Glass Glitter and my mid 60's Walberg & Auge Perfection snare. The Leedy drum is the same shell and wrap as Slingerland from that period. The W&A shell and wrap are from Gretsch.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Your wrap is champagne and yes it will match a Niles drum.

You can tell the difference by the presence of silver and copper flecks in the wrap. Silver/copper=champagne, sparkling pink is just pink crushed glass, no silver or copper in the finish.

Technically Pink sparkle is silver crushed glass (or aluminum flecks) as seen through a pink tinted layer of translucent plastic...but it all appears uniformly pink, unlike the silver copper mix of Champagne.
