Well I have seen it mentioned often, John Aldridge refers to the Leedy "Alliance" in his book and a google search produces quite a few hits as well. Below is a link to a previous post here... Cheershttp://www.vintagedrumforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=40726&d=1331592455

Have any of your google hits shown an actual catalog or print ad with the name "Alliance". I tried that and the only mention are from people who have a snare or set and are calling it that. With all due respect to John Aldridge, I think that may be incorrect. His book makes no mention of the name "Dreadnought" in reference to Leedy's WWII drums. When I see an actual Leedy company reference to the Alliance name, I'll eat my proverbial hat! :-)

From cooper

Gretsch WWII drums were not "Bombers". They were called "Defenders". Leedy WWII drums were not called "Alliance". They were known as "Dreadnoughts", after the battleships.Rogers did make a few wooden lug drums during the war. Here is a web page I wrote regarding WWII drums:http://www.coopersvintagedrums.com/war%20effort.htm

Mark,I got that info from John Aldridges book "Guide to Vintage Drums ",on page 127 and 128.According to the catalog scans,Leedy were Dreadnough, and not Alliance. WFL was Victorious.

Wayne you'll really like the sound of it once you play it. :) Man that's a great gift for someone to give you. I do see other single rolling bombers every so often for sale on EB. You can always add to it and make a kit someday.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

That is correct, based on everything I have found.

I would more than likely just clean it up to sell it...

I would not have the time or patience to find a matching floor tom, snare and rack tom...might anyone know what a fair asking price might be?

Anyone interested?

Shipping would be expensive as it is a 26 inch kickdrum!
