This is a good subject. I, too, wish there was more documentation of this kind of information.
After zooming in on the catalog scans it looks like rod n claw #2 was introduced in 1959. Some sets have these torpedoes and some have the older previous style so your '60 BD will probably have the torpedoes with claw # 2. It's hard to tell but it looks like these were used until '69. Not 100% sure though. I really don't know anything about the rods n claws of the 30's 40's and 50's.
If I may I'd like to add a bit about 70's 80's rods. In this pic the left rods and claws are from my '71 BD and on the right are from my '81. There were 2 versions of the left rod. It's a little bit thinner, the angles are more rounded and there is no bushing where the rod meets the claw. These were probably started in '70. I'm not sure when, but maybe late '71 or 72 they added a bushing where the rod meets the claw. Now the rods on the right you can see are bit beefier and have much sharper angles and also have the bushing. It's just a guess but I think these started around '73 or '74. I believe I've seen them on BD's of these years and they went all the way to Slingerland's first demise. As far as the later incarnations of Slingerland I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if they just used regular t-rods in the 90's and early 00's
Now with the claws you can see in the left one that the hole is pretty much flush with the surface. This is probably the claw that you'd want with the torpedo rod. The right ones have a stamped indentation around the hole. They probably did this when they added the bushing to the rod.
