I have seen more than a few times people having to help keep the strainer engaged in a variety of ways: zip ties, rubber bands, etc. I have two of these drums, and the strainer on one is pretty "soft." Does anyone know what is wearing out that weakens the strainer? I'm guessing it has to do with the rectangular washers that are riveted into place inside the strainer mechanism, but that's just a guess.

Just to be clear, are you referring to a Zoomatic strainer found on the "Sound King", or the Parallel strainer found on the "Super Sound King"?

This is the Super Sound King parallel strainer, not the Zoomatic.
